ELIGIBILITY:

The Recreation Basketball Program is open to boys and girls going into 3rd - 8th grade for the coming school year.  There is also a High School Basketball Program open to boys and girls going into 9th - 12th grades.

For grades 3-8, all players must be residents of Upper Saddle River. Registration fees for the recreation league are $195 per child, provided that your child registers from September 1 - November 1.  Any registration after that date will incur a $50 surcharge.  Final registration date is November 15.

If you are interested in coaching a team, please contact any of the League Directors listed below.  For general questions about our recreation program, please email Mark Ruffalo (the Recreation League Commissioner) at law@markruffolo.com.

For the High School Basketball Program, there is a separate tab with more detail.  However, all players must be residents of Upper Saddle River, Allendale, Ho Ho Kus or Saddle River (or attend school at Northern Highlands Regional High School and do NOT play for that team).. The registration fee is $195.  If you are interested in coaching a team in the High School Basketball Program, please e-mail “Commish” Marshall Grupp at mgrupp@soundlounge.com.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

The Recreation Basketball Program is designed to incorporate a stronger level of competition for players, in addition to building individual basketball skills.  Scoreboards and referees are use for each game, and wins and loses are posted in the standings section of our league website.

TEAM ASSIGNMENTS

In November, our coaches will conduct an organized draft of all individuals who have registered on the USRBasketball.com website.  Players are sorted onto teams of either 3rd/4th graders, 5th/6th graders,  7th/8th graders and High Schoolers. Teams will generally have 7 - 10 players each.  Teams are drafted by parent coaches or high school volunteers to ensure a fair and equitable distribution of advanced and developing players.

Because of the emphasis on fair team distribution, the league will not be able to accommodate player or assistant coach placement requests.

For all games, teams are subject to minimum play requirements. All players and coaches must play in accordance with league rules and abide by our Code of Conduct.

SEASON DURATION AND TIME

The Rec Season will run for approximately 4 months, starting in December and continuing through March. The league will try to accommodate practices during the season. All teams will play at least 10 regular season games (weather permitting). Following the close of the regular season, all teams will participate in a post-season March Madness bracket-style playoff tournament.
